DAYS HEART · Consecrating Ourselves Before God
Day 1 — Search My Heart
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me,And lead me in the way everlasting."
— Psalm 139:23–24
David’s prayer in Psalm 139 is a deeply personal one. He does not begin by asking God to change his circumstances or deal with someone else. Instead, he invites God to examine him. He asks God to search his heart, reveal what is there, and lead him in the way that is right.
That is an appropriate place for us to begin this 21-day journey.
As we prepare for the Legacy Campaign, it would be easy to focus immediately on finances, budgets, giving levels, or what we think we can manage over the next three years. But before we look at any of those things, we need to allow God to look at us.
There may be many emotions connected to this campaign. Some may feel excited. Others may feel uncertain or cautious. Some may already have questions about what participation will require. Others may feel anxious because finances are already tight. God is not asking us to hide any of those feelings. He simply invites us to bring them honestly before Him.
For the next 21 days, allow God to address whatever is beneath the surface. He may reveal fears, priorities, assumptions, habits, or even areas of resistance that need His attention. He may also remind you of His faithfulness and deepen your trust in Him.
Before we ask God what He wants us to give, we begin by asking Him what He wants to do in us.
PRAYER FOCUS
Father, search my heart and show me anything that needs Your attention. Help me come into this journey honestly and without defensiveness. Remove distractions, fear, pride, and preconceived ideas. Give me a heart that is open to Your voice and willing to follow where You lead.
